Nodule of Life – Photography by Mary Mikawoz – Click on image or link to see the bigger picture.
This is an extremely old elm tree. It has so much substance of life. It has been through a lot in life history as evidenced by its nodule where once a tree branch was part of this magnificent tree. I love the nodule for it is intrinsic in design and yet it has movement, flow and texture. The photo was taken at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Canada.
With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

These two turtles are not the smallest I have ever seen. They were actually approximately 6 to 9 inches in length but relative to tortoises, they are tiny. They were climbing all over each other. I have made this image into black and white because I like seeing the textures and designs of the turtle shells. I also like the way the light plays in the picture. I took this image in Mexico.
According to Wikipedia, “Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines. They are characterized by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs that acts as a shield. “Turtle” may refer to the order as a whole or to fresh-water and sea-dwelling Testudines. Testudines includes both extant and extinct species.”

Eyelets – Drawing & Digital Art by Mary Mikawoz Click on image or link to see entire creation
Eyelets
I drew this drawing while I was feeling in a good mood and was feeling in the flow of life. There is movement and design in the drawing. I felt as if I were drawing material with eyelets in it. I have intentionally put in all the colours of the rainbow and then some.
I have made the background to be rich in colour and by virtue of the design, having a texture. It is the kind of design that makes you want to look more into what it is all about and I find myself looking at various features and at the vibrancy of the image. I hope you enjoy it too!

There is a red and green snake amongst red and green leaves of a plant. I like the looping nature of the snake and how it is on top of each other.
According to Wikipedia, “Healing and snakes were associated in ancient Greek myth with Aesculapius, whose snake-familiars would crawl across the bodies of sick people asleep at night in his shrines and lick them back to health.”
I think of the Coronavirus and think of the symbol for medicine featuring snakes.

The water in the Bahama Islands has created these “Wrinkles in Time.” I took a number of photographs of these sand ridges. It is as if they are individual finger prints in the memory of time and sand. It was hard to find places were people had not stood and ruined the individual prints. I like the texture and flow. It is like musical rhythm.

This is the wonderful Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA. I love the angle and closeness of this right-hand hill. There is so much texture and structure to the hill. As well, there are great crevices in the background. It is really quite scenic.
