I love Indian Ink and traditional nib pens. I love the flow of ink. I developed this psychedelic look because it was fun to do and I was in the mood to create. I put in various other colours to get a cool look and feel. As I did the last part in the computer, I can digitally put any colours you wish if you like the design. I hope you like it. This reminds of the fashions worn in the 1960s and 1970s during the Flower Power Hippie Movement of Peace and Love. We do need more kindness and compassion in the world. I believe the feeling of this piece is subtle, soft and demure.

With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

Psychedelic Hometown – Drawing and Digital Art by Mary Mikawoz – Click on image or link to see the bigger picture.

I started off drawing with India Ink and nib pens on paper. I was in a zen state of mood. The shapes, rhythms and swirls just flowed. I later took the drawing and put into the computer where I added colours.

The colours represent my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Winnipeg is the closest city to the geographical centre of North America. From North to South and West to East, it is in the middle of the continent. It is the heartbeat of the land mass. There are three sets of representations – colours of the City of Winnipeg, the Fort Garry Horse Regiment of the Winnie the Bear fame and also the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

Sprouting Seed 2

This is the second abstract painting in the set of two called Sprouting Seed.  As indicated before, it is open to your interpretation.  There are similarities to the first one but there are definitely variations to the other.  What can you see as basic differences between the first one to the second painting?

Sprouting Seed 1

This is an abstract painting which is open to your interpretation. For me, there is specific meaning; however, I wonder what you can see in it. It has been put together with acrylic paints and other mixed media by hand. This is the first of two paintings in a set.
