Boating at Sunset – Photography by Mary Mikawoz – Click on image or link to see the bigger picture.
This beautiful sunset shot was taken from a second floor structure in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We were dining a ocean-side restaurant. The viewing of the sunset was gorgeous and very delightful. It has a brilliance of various colours that were orange, yellow and golden.
The boat is travelling north along the Bay of Banderas. They were enjoying the salty breeze and the incredible and wonderful sunset.
I feel this view is nicely framed by the straw coming down from the roof of the building.
As for me, I love beauty in all its forms. With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and feel as if I am “in the flow.” With my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time. I feel as if I am zinged when I capture that special shot and it is meant to be.

I took this photograph in the early evening as the setting sun was resting in the West. The leaves are long gone from the deciduous trees and the confers are elegant as ever in winter time.
The trees are living organisms that help take carbon dioxide from the air and convert it into life-giving oxygen and breath for planet Earth. Thanks to God and the Universe for creating such a perfect and harmonious system of give and take.
Aside from the orange and gold colours in the sky, I also see peach and pink hues.

This was a beautiful evening in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The sun was setting in the west across the Pacific Ocean. The sky is a gorgeous and rich indigo blue that turns towards a dark, black hue.
I captured the edge of one of the palapas as a silhouette and the waves coming onto the shoreline. I do believe there is a star in the hemisphere.

This is a photograph where it leads your eye along the concrete wall, across the waters to the bridge in the distance. This image was taking at sunset in Tempeh, Arizona, USA.
I have called it “In the Distance” as it leads your attention into the distance.

Off in the distance, you can see sailboats as the sun sets in the sky. I took this photograph while on a boat in the Pacific Ocean off of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Here is a silhouette of a couple in love enjoying the sunset in Waikiki part of Honolulu, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. They are on their balcony seeing the last remnants of the night sky turn a beautiful orange and yellow hue into the night sky as the sun disappears behind the horizon.

This is a photo I took in Waikiki, Hawaii while on a sunset cruise. Hawaii is interesting because the highs and lows in temperature for the day and night are very similar within a few degrees each day most of the year. It was really a “Groundhog Day” out there. Plus, I don’t think I have seen a quicker sunset in my life. It was there one minute and shortly afterwards, it was down. I chose this image today because of the cold weather we have been having so I can always dream and remember.
Please note a couple of sailboats on the horizon in the center image and the plane just over the land on the right hand side of the photo.

Did you know that Lake Winnipeg is the 10th largest freshwater lake in the world? Did you also know that the water drainage basin includes waters from Western Canada, including the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba? On the East, the waters from North-Western Ontario end up in this lake. On the south end, waters from the states of Minnesota and North Dakota flow northwards to Lake Winnipeg. All the waters end up going north to Nelson River and ends up in the watershed of Hudson Bay which is also one of the largest in the world. In order for future generations to enjoy this water and these types of sunsets, we all need to take action now to ensure that pollutants are not dumped intentionally or haphazardly in error into the water system. As the Aboriginals or First Nations People say, we should make decisions based on the concept of “Seven Generations” which mean we need to consider the next 7 generations and how it will affect them.
