Musings: Exist

Consciousness by Gerd Altmann on Pixabay

So the basic question is how do you know you exist?

Is it the heartbeat in your chest that determines your existence? Is it because your brain is running all your organs and blood systems? Is it because your mind, which is different than your brain, is thinking?

What makes you human? What makes you more than exist? How, in fact, do you know you are thriving?

I would contend that it is a combination of your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual selves – what I like to call PEMS for short. I think that to be a whole being and exist in this plane, you need a balanced approach to all these component parts. Being weak in one area may not mean you stop existing, however, I think it makes sure you are not thriving.

Beyond the point that it is important to have balance in your life, I think you need to recognize who or what is realizing that your blood is pumping through your body, you are processing food into energy and assessing information about what your five senses of touching, smelling, hearing, tasting and smelling are all about.

Who exactly is doing that? Is it the observer or witness inside of you? When you put all distractions away and just breathe, what is being realized of who or what is going on inside of you?

Meditation Pose by 3333873 from Pixabay

I am not sure if you meditate but I do. I have done so for about 40 years of life thus far. Now, I have not always been very good at it especially at the beginning stages, but you soon develop a rhythmic breathing, a deep sense of knowing, a clarity and sense of peace that overcomes your body where you go inwards and become serene. That is when the clutter in my mind and world go away and I know for sure that I exist. It is precisely these special “down times” that I am able to escape the world and come into touch with my real self.

I am able to realize that I come from God and Source Energy. This is when I come to realize that we are all connected into a web of life just like quantum physics will tell us in experiments that they have performed such as the observer effect in the double slit experiment or the entanglement theory with two pairs of photons or electrons are still connected, reacting the same although at great distances apart.

It comes down to the realization that I am a spark of divinity and that I never die or was even born for that matter. I am eternal and ever-lasting. The world will continue on its path and I will continue on my own path and journey. Yes, I exist and I will forever more. The very same goes for you too.

Musings: Calculate

I can calculate the number of days I have lived but not the amount of days I have left. That is entirely up to God and the Universe. I guess I do have some choices as some say. I had some decision-making choices before I came down. Perhaps, I did choose my parents and my siblings. Perhaps, I chose my gender, my ethnicity, my religion and so much more beginning data. Perhaps, I did choose the lessons I would work on while in my Earthly suit. Perhaps, I do have a choice as to how I will fulfill my destiny-driven life as I have free choice from moment to moment.

I can calculate the expectation of an outcome such as if I do part A alongside part B and C, then D is the most logical ordered outcome but this is not necessarily the case. There are other players in the mix and as they have free choice as well, their impact on my life has to be considered. It is all about synchronizing my efforts for my highest good while the other involved parties do the same on their end.

I do not judge the outcome but I do judge my efforts. Acceptance is key to it all. It is up to me to entice myself to do better and better. It is for my better judgement to accept myself as I am while doing my best on the path of life.

The process of moving forward is more important than worrying about the hows as I leave those details to God. It is about taking appropriate micro-steps to engage in the process of living and forwarding my movement in an ongoing and upward motion. It is up to me to take the necessary action to fulfill what needs to be learned in this lifetime.

I will calculate the next baby step and then the next after that. These steps build upon one another to the point where I will not realize and recognize how far I have gone because the journey has been meaningful and appropriate for my development as a human being and more importantly as a Spiritual Being on a path towards awareness and enlightenment.

Veil of Tears Poem

Thanks for appreciating, liking, commenting, purchasing and sharing.

Veil of Tears – Photography by Mary Mikawoz – Click on image or link to see the bigger picture.

This is a photograph that I took of the winter sun low in the sky through the window. It has an hazy effect and had a melancholy feel about it. However, what I love about it is that it serves as a framework for the poem I wrote. I wrote it for those who are hurting and missing a loved one at this time of year, this one is for YOU!

Veil of Tears

by Mary Mikawoz

As days change into nights
And nights into days
We see the passage of time
Moments slipping by unnoticed

We trudge on in snow-laden streets
With cold in our feet, face and hands
But not in our hearts…

We remember those who have passed on
From one realm to another
We rejoice in their memories
And of the substantial love they gave us

We can choose to stand in a veil of tears
Wiping the currents of moisture from our eyes
Or simply initiate a wealth of gratitude
For their Past Presence in our lives!

With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

Greatest Manifestation Principle

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

Book: “The Greatest Manifestation Principle in the World: How Quantum Physics and Spirituality Can Enable You to Manifest Your Best Life,” Carnelian Sage, Think-Outside-the-Book, Inc.,2nd edition, 2022.

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

This second edition book by Carnelian Sage is worth it. The beginning of the book starts off with praise from various people but then overall, it is a very quick read and is full of very good information spread throughout.

I have found many of the points are based on my years of study into quantum physics, the law of attraction or manifestation and also spirituality. I have actually gleaned much of the knowledge from reviewing good NDEs or Near Death Experiences. Strange as this may sound, people come back from the other side with great insights, knowledge and messages. Once put together, they are a wealth of knowledge and information.

I found myself highlighting many passages in various colours not because the information to me was necessarily new because, I kept on saying, “Yes!”

I won’t give the messages away of the book. I think it is more important to read it and absorb the wonderful knowledge. It is, in many respects a culmination of gathered information over the years.

Based on how I feel on many decades of reviewing spiritual type of books, I give this book a 5 out of 5 and highly recommend it. Just so you know, Carnelian Sage is a pseudonym for her identity and she has written 10 other books along the same genre and vein.

Book Review: Electromagnetism

Book: “Electric Body, Electric Health: Using the Electromagnetism Within (And Around) You to Rewire, Recharge, and Raise Your Voltage,” Eileen Day McKusick, St. Martin’s Essential, 2020

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

Book available: January 26, 2021

I found this book literally in a way that others have spoken about when a book falls out of the shelf in a book store. It just kind of jumps out at you and you feel compelled to look at it and read it. This happened to me but in an electronic and digital kind of way. I was perusing books to review next from the selected options and this one just popped up on my website page. It literally was not there a moment ago and then it was there. It was as if Divine intervention had helped me along my path.

It is interesting that its sub-title is saying the same kind of thing – that using the electromagnetism within and around you can and does affect you and your life.

I was absolutely mesmerized by the first half the book. I found incredible insights and meanings. For example, I always assumed there was only three states of matter being solid, liquid and gas but Eileen explains there is a fourth state called plasma and that it is an electrically charged gas taking up 99.99 percent of space which connects stars, planets and galaxies in webs of light. That is phenomenally important news. She reviews recent science information to support her work.

Most importantly, Eileen Day McKusick, has mapped out the body with varying levels of information stored in it. She uses tuning forks to smooth out and change blocked passages of information found in the energetic fields around our body.

I think one of the healthiest and most important pieces of advice she gives is the point that “This is the single greatest trick to being high voltage to not judge or suppress any of your emotions but rather to seek to mange them appropriately.” This means, we have to deal with problems as they will not magically go away on their own. To flow through it and get to the other side, you need to deal with emotions, problems and issues.

Eileen has taught many other people how to work on people’s energetic fields with tuning forks. People like Dr. John Gray who is author of “Men are From Mars and Women are From Venus,” along with Marci Shimoff who is author of “Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul” both have taken courses from her and support her work.

She has previously published “Tuning the Human Biofield: Healing with Vibrational Sound Therapy” in September 2014. She has an informative website with her name – https://www.eileenmckusick.com. Further, she has a store that sells her specifically designed tuning forks at her website – https://biofieldtuningstore.com.

The only issue I had with the book was the second half was when she was going into the various chakras. Honestly, my reaction was “Oh Great! Another chakra book.” Having said that, Eileen was able to show she has been working and mapping the energetic body field well because there was quite a few insights into the various respective chakra areas that made a lot of logical sense in the problems and issues people were dealing with.

I give this book a 4.25 out of 5 for a rating. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in self-healing or wanting to “increase their voltage” so that they can be a more positive force in their life and that of the world around them.

River Runs Through It

River Runs Through It

This is a pen drawing which is pretty basic and simplistic but I felt a flow with it and had the thoughts of “A River Runs Through It.”

Then I researched it online and this line is actually from a book and movie by the same name. Norman McLean wrote and published the semi-autobiographical book in 1976. It was adapted for screen play by Richard Friedenberg. According to Wikipedia, “’A River Runs Through It’ is a 1992 American drama film directed by Robert Redford and starring Craig Sheffer, Brad Pitt, Tom Skerritt, Brenda Blethyn, and Emily Lloyd.”

Now I have never seen the movie as far as I know but according to Mark Blanchard on Quora, it means the following: ”That’s the final line to Norman MacLean’s beautiful A River Runs Through It and it speaks to the merger of spirituality and science, the soul and nature, as MacLean saw it.”

Also, Chanjoo Brown writes in Quaro, “My take on the quote is that all kinds of twists and turns, obstacles come at us in life, like the flows of a river. And no matter how we try to change that flow or redirect it, it’s always going to run in the direction it’s meant to, which is into a larger body; the ocean which represents the ‘One’ thing we all merge into (mutual destiny). “

Based on who I am as a person, it makes a lot of sense to me and perhaps, I did intuit it. I was, nonetheless, inspired to draw it by hand and then create more of it as a digital artwork piece.

Soul Purpose

Soul Purpose Method

Book: “The Soul Purpose Method: Discover Your Unique Calling, Reawaken to Your True Self, and Co-create the Inspired Life You Were Meant to Live,” Licia Rester and Kir Souder, Kynosura Publishing and Paper Raven Books, 2019

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

Book available: August 20, 2019

This book starts off with three major sections: Intention, Liberation and and Co-Creation. Within these sections, are more chapters with lots of good information.

Rester and Souder outline that you should be doing that which makes you come alive and to do that with your life – not some pre-fabricated need of society or the world although that might be what you end up doing. They believe that once you combine intention, liberation and co-creation, you get your soul’s purpose. That is the formula.

Further to that, they believe that the summit is inside of you to be discovered and not in someplace outside of yourself. You already have all the equipment needed to get there. As Steve Jobs says, “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what your truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Licia and Kir refer to your soul’s purpose as a “Northern Intention.”

Licia and Kir go through 7 myths regarding soul purpose.

They are:

  1. I don’t have a purpose.
  2. I have to find or figure out my purpose.
  3. I don’t have enough money, time and/or opportunities to pursue my purpose.
  4. I’m not sure the purpose I’ve identified is my real purpose.
  5. I’m not “good” enough (confident, patient, focused, disciplined, skilled, smart, motivated, or energetic enough) to pursue my purpose.
  6. I have too many other responsibilities, obligations and priorities.
  7. I can’t let down or alienate people in my life.

Further on when dealing with issues surrounding fear, the authors use a quote from Albert Einstein. It reads, “The intuitive mind is a scared gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

Their own quote is valid, “What we intend, what we believe, what we choose, and what we act on will create the story of our lives.” That is, indeed, a profound statement.

Finally, the authors ask you to co-create with the Universe or Higher Power or God or Spirit. Paraphrased, they ask you to continue towards service in learning and growing in awareness of who you truly are and in manifesting your goals and dreams in alignment with the highest good of everyone involved.

Rester and Souder indicate that “Wisdom, inspiration and guidance can come at any time, in any form.”

After you have developed your “Northern Intention,” you develop your “Soul Purpose Vision” and then finally you create “Your Soul Purpose Action Plan.” They outline 5 steps in creating effective actions steps.

The biggest take-away from this book is something I know from many of my spiritual practices from books, videos and practices and that is when you are asking for guidance from the divine, you ask, “This or something better for the highest good of all concerned.”

The acorn has the information and drive to become the majestic oak tree and the caterpillar has what it takes to become a butterfly. It is already in them.

I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 so basically a 5 out of 5 and find that it is both a motivational and inspirational book with many insights.

Limitless Soul

Limitless Soul

Book: “The Limitless Soul: Hypno-Regression Case Studies into Past, Present, and Future Lives” by Bryn Blankinship,Llewellyn Publications, 2019.

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

Book available June 8, 2019

I just completed reading the book. I found it fascinating. I always love stories of past-life reincarnations. It is amazing to find who is searching and for what information. Often, we search for why certain people are in our lives or not. We search for our meaning and purpose of life which is often based on what we have done in previous lifetimes. Personally, I believe that those who are prodigies at a young age are simply focussing in on gifts and personal talents they had in previous lifetimes.

Bryn Blankinship worked with Dr. Michael Newton who pioneered much of this work of life after life and in between lives. His books “Journeys of Souls”and “Destiny of Souls” was written more in a dialogue way as it was recorded. It is a conversation that goes back and forth between the person doing the hypnosis and the one who is under. I, for this reason, expected Bryn Blankinship’s books to be of a similar format but it is not. Bryn writes as if it were a story. I am not sure which method is better as both ways have merit.

I thought I found a discrepancy in the book as there is a client who has had two lifetimes overlapping one another. I thought “Ah ha, it is wrong” but I have since learned while reading on that there is such a thing as parallel lives where a soul splits into dual lives at once. It is hard to do and takes a lot of energy and is usually done only by advanced souls.
I found this book an easy and interesting read. What one does in between lives is fascinating. To me, it is as if you go to Heaven and deal with your Soul Council. It may not be “Heaven” but it is a place of white lights, positive energy and goodness. All one has to do there is to think the thought and the message is automatically transferred without the need for speech.

People will meet their Spirit Guides who have been with them in many previous lifetimes. They have been there to guide you in your daily life here and now. The person who has died needs to deal with the Soul Advisory Council. This consists of wise beings who have not incarnated and are able to see the big picture as we deal with each and every lifetime.

There is also a healing area where people/souls go to reintegrate being back to a soul that is functional and back to normal. Negative energies are taken away and healed.

There are no accidents. People are where they need to be. If you are reading this book review, it is not an act of coincidence but one of synchronicity.

I recommend this book as a good basis to learn about reincarnation and past-life regressions.  There are also some helpful exercises in the book.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Book: “What’s Beyond Mindfulness: Waking Up to This Precious Life?” by Stephen Fulder, Watkins Media Ltd., 2019.

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

Book available January 15, 2019

It has taken me quite some time to read this book as I had to keep getting re-acquainted to the book as I needed to keep putting it down for consideration and reflection The book is about mindfulness. It is about Buddhism being part of our way of life that can be inclusive of already understood religions like the Judeo-Christian ones. Buddhism, as a way of life, adds to these existing religions in a way that is not adverse to them and so it is a good adjunct.

Stephen Fulder has done a lot of things including having Israeli-Palestinian workshops trying to give peace a chance in the Middle East. People leave behind their pre-conceived notions of the “enemy” and come to see that there is a humanity and spirituality in all people.

I appreciated the appendix as it offered a question/answer format. I would have, in many ways, preferred if the entire book had been written this way. Buddhism some may say is easy to learn, however, I find it much more difficult to understand and therefore difficult to write and read about.

I appreciated quotes from spiritual leaders like the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi and the many Buddhist and Hindu spiritual leaders. The books goes into the stories of the bible like Jonah and Job, as well as into a number of psalms. Stephen also has written a number of poems throughout the book.

One quote early on I like is “We can live a wise inner life of reflection, creativity and inspiration, a life with wide horizons.” Another quote towards the middle that I like is “Consciousness is pure, it is our Buddha-nature, our pure being.” Finally, a quote near the end is that “The Sanskrit wordsamadhiis used for deep quiet, serenity and concentration, and it actually means to gather ourselves together. To bring ourselves back home.” The eight tenets of Buddhism were mentioned as well.

There is a lot of information provided but I am coming from a spiritual/New Age perspective so I found myself at odds with a number of the concepts. One example is karma. I disagree with what the books says. I do think it is about cause and effect. I do think that what you have done in a previous lifetimes affects you in your current life. Many situations that you are dealing with in life are as a result of either good intention or bad intention actions in past lives.

I appreciated the vocabulary of terms in the appendix in the back. I commend Stephen Fulder for the positive work he has done in society overall.

I am giving this book 3.5 stars out of 5 because it is informative but not in a structured way. Like I mentioned above, I think the book would have been more logical to understand and also more focussed if it were a question-answer process as the concepts are difficult to grasp due to our dualistic way of thinking.

HSP – Highly Sensitive People

HSP

Book: “The Handbook for Highly Sensitive People:How to Transform Feeling Overwhelmed and Frazzled to Empowered and Fulfilled,” by Mel Collins, Watkins Media Ltd., 2019.

Book Review by Mary Mikawoz

The book is available January 15, 2019.

Mel Collins worked in a prison for over 10 years as a HSP or Highly Sensitive Person. She realized that this was not the best match and so studied to become a therapist which was ideal for her intuitive abilities.

Some people are scared that they are so highly sensitive or intuitive but Mel Collins sees this as a gift. She believes in having a balanced life between the feminine and the masculine aspects or the yin and yang of the person.

She also believes in having a balance between physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects. By keeping these areas balanced and shiny like a diamond, there will be very positive results for the HSP.

Mel Collins talks about the chakras and the auric field. She talks about EFT tapping. She discusses ways to protect HSP from outside energies in a number of ways.

There area a number of ways to deal with energy fields. First is the golden light technique, second is visualizing using colours, third is the spotlight method, fourth is crystal therapy and fifth is prayer or faith-based techniques. It is important to clear energetic hooks or cords and cleansing your aura and chakras by the silver shower method, the violet flame method, or smudging or burning sage. Plus, there is the power of salt and the pool of purification method.

Mel Collins says there are earthbound spirits that may attach to a HSP because of the lighter and higher vibrations the person is giving off and because the person is a helper. In these cases, it is important to get the spirit to understand that they are no longer living and should move onto the light.

She talks about the divine blueprint that is with all of us before we reincarnated. We often deal with outstanding issues from previous lifetimes. Mel also does past-life regression therapy work and feels it could be important to realizing why we are here on Earth.

I found the book about Highly Sensitive People to be a good one because I am one. I thought what can this author teach me that I already don’t know about myself and the spirit world but she did a pretty good overview. I liked the book and would recommend it to people who are intuitive but still developing their spiritual practice. For those who have been evolving for awhile, it is a good overview.
