I love seeing and taking photographs of things people normally would not notice and would just walk right on over or right on by. I was amused by this white feather that popped itself on the sandy shoreline along the lake. The bird who lost its feather had no idea that it was creating art amongst the green seaweed swirling by the water’s edge.

With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

Jagged Little Rocks

Jagged Little Rocks

I was walking along the shoreline of Lake Winnipeg enjoying the autumn leaves turning all sorts of brilliant colours of orange, yellow and red. Down at my feet were these series of jagged little rocks.

It was as if they were a smaller scale of a formation of rocks being pushed up against each other. It reminded me of the heaving and cleaving of tectonic plates pushing against one another.

They stuck up straight up out of the Earth in a vertical fashion. They were interesting and intriguing and so I took a photograph of them.

On the basis of the name alone of this photograph, Jagged Little Rocks, it reminds me of the “Jagged Little Pill” album by Canadian singer and songwriter Alanis Morissette.

Sundown

Sundown

This was a beautiful evening in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The sun was setting in the west across the Pacific Ocean. The sky is a gorgeous and rich indigo blue that turns towards a dark, black hue.

I captured the edge of one of the palapas as a silhouette and the waves coming onto the shoreline. I do believe there is a star in the hemisphere.

Fall Equinox

This is a panoramic photograph I took this morning at the shoreline of Lake Winnipeg at Little Deer at 8:30 am when it was the right time for the change of seasons Central Standards Time (CST) for this area. This is approximately 2 hours north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

I love the beautiful golden hue and tone of the sun with its juxtaposition against the blue of the water and sky.

I like how your eye leads you into the water of the photo with the trees framing the image nicely. It also invites you in and makes you want to go swimming but it is getting too cold for that already.

Sausalito Shoreline

I think one of the coolest things about Sausalito, California is that it is only 13 feet above sea level.  Can’t do much better than that.  The population of this quaint little city with colourful buildings is only about 7000 people and is located at the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge.  I found the restaurants in the area to be spectacular with great seafood, of course.

Seagull Sticks

Pretty much anywhere you go when you are near water; you will find Seagulls or Gulls. I read that these birds breed on every continent and even on the fringes of Antarctica and the North Arctic which I think is amazing.  I think this speaks to their hardiness and ability to adapt to various climates around the world.  I do realize they are mainly scavengers and so this explains their ability to sustain themselves.  Apparently, they can live a long time and often mate for life.  Their offspring are precocial which means they are able to be mobile upon hatching out of their eggs, among a few other things.  This photo that I took was on a lake which had these large pieces of wood sticking out of the water which I believe is being used to moor boats to near the shoreline.  It looks as if the Seagulls have taken over.  Enjoy!
