Circle Gorge

MaryMikawozCircleGorge

This is from a helicopter view of the Grand Canyon, Arizona. I like the circle gorge as I think it is amazing the winds have created such an incredible structure.

We were so high, that we were almost at the cloud level.

Gorge

Gorge

Here is a photograph from a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, Arizona. It was spectacular. It was my first helicopter ride and what better way than across the gorge in all its glory. It has layers of red rock from many geological time periods.

Lion’s Feet

Lion’s Feet

I love close-ups of wildlife. These are lion’s feet. They are so incredible with the foot padding and the beautiful fur around it. “The lion (Panthera leo) is a species in the family Felidae; it is a muscular, deep-chested cat with a short, rounded head, a reduced neck and round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail.”

Piercing Eyes

This full-bodied eagle was a photograph taken north of Winnipeg in Little Deer, Manitoba, Canada. It is beautiful and stunning. I did an abstract head drawing in coloured inks. It is combined in the computer as a new image.

Close-Up

Close-Up

This is a photo I took of a close-up of a leopard’s head. He is magnificent – isn’t he? The leopard is one of the five extant species in the genus Panthera, a member of the Felidae. The leopard occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia.

Dancing Sky

Dancing Sky

It is as if the clouds are dancing or brilliant white fireworks are going off in the sky. I love the movement in the clouds.

Old Oak Tree

The tree is majestic, rugged and beautiful. Without is foliage, you see the expanse of limbs.

I like the knot in the tree which gives it character. I love the blue sky above.

This a mass collection of ladybugs. I think this is shortly after they have hatched and passed the larvae stage.

Great Gray Owl Together

Great Gray Owl Together

Mikawoz Owl Together

This is a Great Gray Owl and is Manitoba’s Provincial Bird Emblem in 1987. It is a photograph I took in dusk in winter north of Winnipeg, in Little Deer. I then drew an abstract Great Grey Owl to go with it and combined it in the computer.

According to Wikipedia, the great grey owl or great gray owl (Strix nebulosa) is a very large owl, documented as the world’s largest species of owl by length. It is distributed across the Northern Hemisphere, and it is the only species in the Strix genus found in both Eastern and Western Hemispheres. In some areas it is also called Phantom of the North, cinereous owl, spectral owl, Lapland owl, spruce owl, bearded owl, and sooty owl.
