This is an extremely old elm tree. It has so much substance of life. It has been through a lot in life history as evidenced by its nodule where once a tree branch was part of this magnificent tree. I love the nodule for it is intrinsic in design and yet it has movement, flow and texture. The photo was taken at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Canada.

These are gophers at Assiniboine Park enjoying their wide range of trenches in the fields and trees. I caught these gophers uniquely looking at me from various angles and locations “Four to Score” because if all 4 are female and have pups, there will be approximately be a score or twenty of them as the average number of fur babies are 5 per litter.
I hope you like the arrangement and appreciate that I took this photograph with my phone. sIt was difficult to capture all 4 of them in one photograph as they were always scurrying around.

For once, the waters and the sand are empty of people. The summer season is essentially over and only a few brave souls make it out onto Grand Beach. This photograph has a richness of colours as there are three stripes of colours crossing the horizon from the sky, the lake and the sand. I took my chances and waded through the water to see if it was warm or cold. It was a tinge warm but already turning cold.
This beach is fantastic and a great place to walk on the boardwalk. Normally, people are having fun by sunning themselves, playing frisbee or football, catch in the water or volleyball on the sand.
CBC reported, “Grand Beach (is) less than an hour from Winnipeg. Grand Beach has been called one of Canada’s best beaches. The beach has three kilometres of fine, white sand backed by 12-metre sand dunes on the edge of the town of Grand Marais in Grand Beach Provincial Park.”

These directional signs are from a series of photographs that I took while visiting the Royal Parks around Buckingham Palace in London, England. They point you in the direction you might want to go in. You have many choices of where you can venture to. Which one will you take? It is a decision we make each and every day and in fact, moment to moment.
The birds or pigeons know a good spot when they see it. It is high up and has a good advantage point and is a good resting spot before carrying on with their flight. We have been in this landing zone for the past year while we consider our next options and where we want our lives to go to. It is up to us, as inhabitants of this Earth, to decide which aspects of the new-normal we want to incorporate as we forward into the future and what we want to leave behind to history. The decision is ours!

I took this photograph one cool fall night many moons ago in Assiniboine Park. The sun was setting in the west and the sky turned a multitude of magnificent colours including pink, blue, purple, red, orange, and yellow. It is a veritable rainbow of colours. The trees are dark silhouetted and seem to be dramatic or mysterious in their own way.
I love the branches of the trees as they extend towards the sky yearning for more attention from the sun and their impending growth. They cry out to the sun, “Please give us more. We need you.”
Throughout the seasons, they get what they need and now as we approach winter time, we go dormant and fall asleep for awhile in plant-life hibernation.

My husband and I were in Kelowna visiting with his previous regiment, the British Columbia Dragoons. They were celebrating their 100th anniversary as an armoured reconnaissance regiment of the Canadian Forces. They are the sister regiment to the The Royal Dragoon Guards in Britain.
While there, we toured around the Kasugai Gardens which was not part of the city when we lived there. I found it to be quite beautiful and a peaceful and serene place where you can sit down and enjoy the scenery.
According to the City of Kelowna website, “The garden was completed in 1987 to demonstrate the friendship and union between Kelowna and its sister city in Kasugai, Japan. The park integrates traditional elements notable in Japanese gardens, such as stone lanterns, pine trees, waterfalls and a pond stocked with Koi. It is a beautiful integration of stone, pathways, plants and water.”

This is a photograph of the dock at Washow Bay which is north of Riverton on the way to Beaver Creek Provincial Park. It is a favourite spot for fishing by locals.
This was taken in the spring time as the ice was starting to melt and as you can see it is a bit dodgy to be on. There is absolutely no way you could safely take your snowmobile for ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg as you can do most of the winter time when freeze up happens.
Soon the ice will refreeze and sports fishermen and fisherwomen can go back to their glory.
I have taken the liberty to put some special effects to the picture which highlights the different depths of the ice as it disappears

I took this image of Peyto Lake after hiking up the trail to the top view and to appreciate this incredibly beautiful azure colour of the water. I like the way there is snow up in the mountains and the sky is so dramatic looking.
The hike is 3.8 miles round trip but it is totally worth it. The lake is found 40 kilometers or 25 miles north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Highway. Currently, Peyto Lake is closed to visitors until November 2020. It has been open to visitors since 1941 but right now, it is undergoing renovations by the Canadian government in the amount of 2.9 million dollars.
According to Wikipedia, “Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies…It was named for Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area.”

This parrot is standing stoically on a branch amidst the greenery. He is “white as snow.” He seems to be happy and content. I like the way he is so elegant and has such beautiful plumage.
The photograph was taken at Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia. According to the Vancouver Parks and Recreation website, “More than 120 free-flying exotic birds, 500 exotic plants and flowers thrive within its temperature-controlled environment.”

I like the Canada Geese playing and frolicking in front of the fountain. I have made it black and white to make it more interesting. This picture was taken only a few weeks ago but the fountain has been already closed down due to dropping temperatures and because of the recent snow already.
There were still Canada geese at the Duck Pond in Assiniboine Park yesterday when I went for my walk. I do not know why the few stragglers have not flown south for the winter. They should be going soon.
