Balcony Love

Mikawoz Balcony Love

Balcony Love

Here is a silhouette of a couple in love enjoying the sunset in Waikiki part of Honolulu, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. They are on their balcony seeing the last remnants of the night sky turn a beautiful orange and yellow hue into the night sky as the sun disappears behind the horizon.

Beloved Tiger

Mikawoz Beloved Tiger

Beloved Tiger

I took this photograph of a tiger at a zoo. He is looking off into the distance.

I wrote this poem to go with the image. This is how I felt.

Beloved Tiger
by Mary Mikawoz (2020)

Off in a Distance
You Dream
Of Bygone Days
And Solitudes

Yet you Continue to Roam
In Your Mind
Of Distant Lands
Of Chasing Game
And Wildlife
Of Embracing Life

Your Path and Destiny has diverged
Once Upon a Time
To be Captive Here
For our Amusement
In this Human Zoo

Sorry for our Indulgences
Sorry for the captivity
One Day You Will be Free Again!

Fiery Orange Ball

Mikawoz Fiery Orange Ball

Fiery Orange Ball

This is the setting sun of an orange ball in the sky affecting the clouds around it. It was incredibly beautiful over the North Pacific Ocean near Waikiki, Oahu. Mind you, it was very quick. We were on a boat cruise and the sun disappeared very quickly so I had to be quick with my camera photos.

New Build

New Build

This is an actual sunset in Tempe, Arizona, USA. There is a modern-style bridge in front of a crane for a new build. It is at the Tempe Town Lake. You can actually see two men in the upper-right hand working up high in the sky.

We Are Family

Here are some wonderful cacti that have little baby cacti growing around and through the cactus.

Wikipedia indicates “Botanically, “spines” are distinguished from “thorns”: spines are modified leaves, and thorns are modified branches. Cacti produce spines…”

En Formation

I am presenting this image for your interpretation. It has meaning for me.  What you also don’t see and what you don’t know is that for most of my paintings that I do, I paint up and over the edges of the frame’s borders so that the acrylic painting is extended.  So, from where you are sitting, you can not see the entire picture.

Closer to You

These are beautiful ladybugs with rich red, orange and yellow colourings with those adorable black spots.  I look at this photo that I took and it almost looks like a snake’s head reaching upwards being covered by the ladybugs.  It is, in fact, only a unique looking branch that is covered with ladybugs not only on the top, but the sides and even underneath.  How do they do that?  It looks as if by reaching the end of the branch, they will reach something or someone special.  I hope they do.

Gibbon Intently Looking

I took this photo but then had a hard time trying to remember what type of primate this was.  I thought it might have been an orangutan because of the orange colouring but the face was different. Plus, it has a smaller frame.  I finally figured out that this monkey is actually what is called Gibbon or a Lesser Ape.  Apparently, they pair bond which is different than the Greater Ape.  Plus, I learned that their primary form of locomotion is called “brachiation” where they can swing from branch to branch for distances of up to 15 meters or 50 feet  with speeds as high as 55 km/h or 34 mph.
