Secret Garden Archway

Secret Garden Archway

I have loved to read even as young child. I remember a book about a gate to a secret garden. I don’t believe it was illustrated but in my mind, I had a vision of something like this. I saw an archway that was not locked or closed off. It was open and inviting. It led into a beautiful garden that I imagined. It was full of incredible trees, plants, flowers bird and tiny critters. It was not only green but had a multitude of vibrant colours: the kind you would see in Heaven.

I took the original photograph and decided to “play” with it to create a perfect entrance way to my imaginary and fanciful, magical garden of creative potential. It is ripe with perspectives and possibilities as I hope my creative world is too.

Brown Eyes

This is a photograph of a red fox with beautiful brown eyes and gorgeous red fur coat. I took the photo in the Interlake area which is north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was not seemingly too scared of us. He walked along and even opened his mouth which I think is interesting and I wonder why. I know that cats open their mouths off to use their sense of smell – Jacobson’s organ.

According to National Geographic, the Vulpes Vulpes or “Red foxes are solitary hunters who feed on rodents, rabbits, birds, and other small game—but their diet can be as flexible as their home habitat. Foxes will eat fruit and vegetables, fish, frogs, and even worms. If living among humans, foxes will opportunistically dine on garbage and pet food.”

Here is a wonderful parrot who has just cracked open a nut. According to the Internet, “Hailing from South America, the beautiful blue-and-gold Macaw presents a bold mix of bright blue and yellow feathers…Moreover, it’s green forehead offers beautiful contrast to its blue and yellow body.” They are intelligent.

I See You

What can I say? These are Hereford cattle. I like the way the cows are looking back at me. They seemed to be as intrigued with me as I am of them. I think the Hereford is a beautiful cattle. As they nibble the grasses and enjoy being on the open range, they seem to be enjoying themselves. I like the composition of three against the hilly background.

En Formation

I am presenting this image for your interpretation. It has meaning for me.  What you also don’t see and what you don’t know is that for most of my paintings that I do, I paint up and over the edges of the frame’s borders so that the acrylic painting is extended.  So, from where you are sitting, you can not see the entire picture.

Whitemouth River Falls

I love the contrast of the water in this photo.  The snow and ice are white, serene and still.  Underneath, you find flowing and open water but it is placid and calm.  It looks blue but it clear water.  Just below, you see the water not only trickle but really come alive as it falls over rocks.  From passive to active, this water flows and changes down the river path.

Due to the many rapids along this river’s path, it is apparently very popular with canoe enthusiasts.  Aside from the Seven Sisters, there are also the towns of River Hills, Elma, Whitemouth, and Hadashville located along the river in Manitoba, Canada.
