Psychedelic Roses – Photography by Mary Mikawoz – Click on image or link to see the bigger picture.

I love Indian Ink and traditional nib pens. I love the flow of ink. I developed this psychedelic look because it was fun to do and I was in the mood to create. I put in various other colours to get a cool look and feel. As I did the last part in the computer, I can digitally put any colours you wish if you like the design. I hope you like it. Just contact me if you do.

This reminds of the fashions worn in the 1960s and 1970s during the Flower Power Hippie Movement of Peace and Love. We do need more kindness and compassion in the world. I believe the feeling of this piece is subtle, soft and demure.

With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

Gimli Beach

Mikawoz Gimli Beach

Gimli Beach

This is Gimli on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg. It is strangely calm which is unusual for this lake. I like the lines of the water, sand, building and trees. I have put in a special photo filter to make it more calm-like and cool

According to Wikipedia, “The community’s first European settlers were Icelanders who were part of the New Iceland settlement in Manitoba.”

Green Roots

Green Roots

I really like the concept of growth. These are grass roots like that found on the prairies.

There is a design and flow to it.

Rainbow Shell

I have expressed this shell with a multitude of colours. It is an abstract interpretation of a shell.

In some ways, it can look as a colourful bat or butterfly too.

Twin Spires And Trolley Lines

This is a photo of the famous Catholic Church called Saints Paul and Peter Church in the North Beach area of San Francisco.  You get the spires as a quick image as I passed along one of the famous bus tours around the city.  I love the trolley lines finding them interesting how they intersect and work.

I remember being younger and enjoying the electrical buses that use to run up and down Corydon Avenue in Winnipeg.  They often lost their footing on the cable as they came around the bend and so I would enjoy sitting there watching them putting the cable back on the line.  I miss those electrical buses and meanwhile they were good for the environment but we replaced them in the name of technological advancement.
