This photograph is in honour of our family and specifically for my husband’s birthday today. He has always been the head of the herd just like the bison, being in charge and taking leadership as a privilege whether it has been him serving as Lieutenant Colonel of the Fort Garry Horse Regiment twice or being a Manager in Information Technology or co-leading our family. Here is an article explaining more – https://mikawoz.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/fort-garry-horse-lieutenant-colonel-david-atwell-leader-of-the-pack/
I grew up in a very tight knit family and I hope we have instilled the same kind of belief systems and values in our son. I thank my husband, David Elliott Atwell, for being a caring and loving soul. Thank you for being my partner in life this time around.
Familia is the Spanish form of “Family” and it is the choices you make to love and care for certain people who cross paths in your life. This photograph is a representation of Dave, myself and our son.

What Do You Think?
My photograph is entitled “What Do You Think?” We all have opinions and we are all entitled to diverse options. This bison looks like he is inviting you to talk and have a discussion. He has said his piece and now it is your turn.
Let’s be civil and kind. Let’s be able to have a discussion by being compassionate and understanding.
Overall, I love how this bison looks and I am proud of this picture.

Boss Man
This is a profile photograph of the head of a male dominant bison of the herd. He is absolutely huge just like a offensive or defensive lineman in football. He is strong and majestic.
His head is large and his horns are powerful just in case he needs them.
According to the US Department of the Interioir, “Male bison (called bulls) weigh up to 2,000 pounds and stand 6 feet tall, while females (called cows) weigh up to 1,000 pounds and reach a height of 4-5 feet.”

Manitoba Bison
This is a photograph I took of the master bison of the herd. He was definitely the largest and the most dominant. He led the other bison on a rampage towards me as they thought I had food for them.
This image reminds me of the University of Manitoba Bison symbol and logo. Even though I am alma mater to several Universities and Colleges across Canada, my biggest connection is as alumna to the University of Manitoba.
I love this bison because he is majestic, strong and perfect.
