Diamond Head

Mikawoz Diamond Head

Diamond Head

This is the basis of a photograph I took of the Diamond Head Mountain in Waikiki, Hawaii while I was on a boat on the Pacific Ocean. I have digitally created a new imprint of the mountain.

According to the Go Hawaii website, “Known as Leahi (brow of the tuna) in Hawaiian, the crater was named Diamond Head by 19th century British sailors who thought they discovered diamonds on the crater’s slopes. These “diamonds” were actually shiny calcite crystals that had no value.”

Wise Purple

Mikawoz Wise Purple

Wise Purple

Purple is amongst the highest chakra. Purple or violet chakra is the top chakra found on the top of the head which means connection to the Universe and spiritual consciousness.

I have taken a photograph that I took at the Bloedel Conservatory and made it black and white. I selected the colour purple to be the distinguishing element in the image.

Coming At You

Coming At You

It is so well camouflaged but in the side of the rock is a dangerous snake coming at you. It is basically hidden in its environment. I believe this one is venomous.

Giraffe Close-up

I love to see animals close-up. This is a giraffe’s face and head. I think his spots are ever so nice. This was taken at the Greater Vancouver Zoo in Aldergrove BC.

Lion’s Feet

Lion’s Feet

I love close-ups of wildlife. These are lion’s feet. They are so incredible with the foot padding and the beautiful fur around it. “The lion (Panthera leo) is a species in the family Felidae; it is a muscular, deep-chested cat with a short, rounded head, a reduced neck and round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail.”

Close-Up

This is a photo I took of a close-up of a leopard’s head. He is magnificent – isn’t he? The leopard is one of the five extant species in the genus Panthera, a member of the Felidae. The leopard occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia.

Golden Eagle Head

I took this photo of the Golden Eagle near Lake Winnipeg.  I also saw and took photos of Bald Eagles.  Their range of living is 200 km2 (77 sq mi) based on what Wikipedia says.  This is quite a big territory but not if you are a flying eagle that soars across the skies with ease.  They have a partial migration.  If they are further north, they usually migrate when living at a latitude of 60 degrees north and shorter migrations if they are at the 50 degree latitude.  If you take the location of Gimli, Manitoba they are at 50.6667° N, 97.0500° W.  And if you are at Winnipeg, Manitoba the near center of Canada it is 49.8994° N, 97.1392° W.   These beautiful yet hardy birds will only do a partial migration during the cold months of winter.

Corona Madonna

Back in 2009, we visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  We visited the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  I took a few photos outside and a number inside.  I took a photo of the statue of Mary and then as I was leaving the church, I wanted to see what the pictures looked like and found that there was a Corona of Light around the head of the Madonna.  I was amazed.   I went back in to take more photos but could not create the same effect.

This corona was NOT photoshopped in at all.  It is as I was able to capture with my digital camera at that special moment in time.
