I spent the very last day possible at the Conservatory at Assiniboine Park. I literally stayed until they closed up not only for the day but also the life of the conservatory to the public. Why? Because I have very fond memories from many years of visiting when we or I used to go there and enjoy the lush trees, plants and flowers. I would particularly go in winter time to get a break from the white, blustery snow and see beautiful greenery in the warm and humid environment. 

Some of my fondest photographs are of my immediate and extended family, some of whom, are no longer with us in physical form, and they graced their presence on this Earth by being in the conservatory. Back in the day, there were black and white photographs that were developed with film and you had to wait a very long period of time for them to be developed in the lab before seeing what you had accomplished with your camera. 

This is a photograph I took of a “Wandering Dude” or Tradescantia zebrina or Inch Plant amongst the brick work. It is a houseplant that has trailing vines and is often used in hanging baskets.

These are beautiful white flowers or Fleurs Blanches found in the old Conservatory Building at Assiniboine Park. The building is no longer there and has been demolished. I hope the plants found a good new home. 

This photograph has Asiatic Lilies and Arum Lilies being showcased. They are exquisite in their elegance and perfection.  They are romantic.

They were situated in a spot that many people would walk by and not even notice them but they definitely caught my eye. The Asiatic Lilies look as if there are multiple trumpets sounding off in all the directions.

This parrot is standing stoically on a branch amidst the greenery. He is “white as snow.” He seems to be happy and content. I like the way he is so elegant and has such beautiful plumage. 

The photograph was taken at Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia. According to the Vancouver Parks and Recreation website, “More than 120 free-flying exotic birds, 500 exotic plants and flowers thrive within its temperature-controlled environment.”

This is a close-up photograph of a white parrot taken at the Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, BC. You can see its feather as if they are petals of a flower elegantly spread out on her body. I like the way she has her face angled.

Bloedel Roof

This is a black and white photograph I took of the roof of Bloedel Conservatory found at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

I like the geometric design in the roof which is complimented by the plant life.

Sundown Time

These oak trees are the most perfect element in the beautiful autumn sky behind them. This photograph was taken at Assiniboine Park near the previous Conservatory in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The seasons continue to change and with it comes renewed hope as we enter Spring.

Bloedel Conservatory

Bloedel Conservatory

It was a end of fall day when we were visiting the Bloedel Conservatory. i liked the shape and textural architecture of the round dome building. I like ht paths leading up to it and also the water fountains.This building has been used in many TV shows and movies.

According to Vancouver, Parks and Recreation, “Bloedel Conservatory is a domed lush paradise located in Queen Elizabeth Park atop the City of Vancouver’s highest point. More than 120 free-flying exotic birds, 500 exotic plants and flowers thrive within its temperature-controlled environment.”

Bridge Over Paradise

This wooden arched bridge is found on a pathway around the Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is found close to the Japanese Gardens and overlooks a small waterfall through the rocks.
