Sunflowers in the Winter Sun

Sunflowers in the Winter Sun

Sunflowers In The Winter Sun

In this photo, the winter sun is starting to set in the West. With heads bowed, the sunflowers are saying good-bye to the retreating day of sun. I love the combination of the shadows drawn out in curves on the snow and the tree branches framing the photograph. Thanks for liking, commenting, sharing and purchasing. Roots of Strength

Roots of Strength

Roots Of Strength

I took this photo because I loved the way the tree has insisted to grow despite being pushed by the forces of nature. It’s exposed roots show how it can compensate to continue to grow and sustain nutrients from the ground. To me, the roots look like arms reaching into the Earth. Sculpted Antlers

Sculpted Antlers

Here is a beautiful view of sculpted antlers that nature has made. It is just perfectly made.

Wikipedia indicates: “Antlers are extensions of an animal’s skull found in members of the deer family. Antlers are true bone and are a single structure. They are generally found only on males, with the exception of the reindeer/caribou. Antlers are shed and regrown each year and function primarily as objects of sexual attraction and as weapons in fights between males for control of harems.”

Flower Boat

Flower Boat

This is a photograph of a lonely boat who has been forgotten in time. It is surrounded by nature as the flowers pop up all around. I think it is interesting and beautiful how nature always comes back. It was taken at Little Deer in Manitoba, Canada.

Sea Going

Mikawoz Sea Going

It is an overcast day in the Vancouver Harbour where freighters line up and a fishing boat is being followed by many seagulls and sea birds looking for their next feed. According to Wikipedia, “Informally known as “box boats,” they carry the majority of the world’s dry cargo. Most container ships are propelled by diesel engines, and have crews of between 10 and 30 people.”

It is a tranquil picture although there is much going on in it.

Dolphin

I love dolphins and whales. This is a underwater picture of a dolphin. According to Wikipedia, “Dolphin is a common name of aquatic mammals within the infraorder Cetacea. The term dolphin usually refers to the extant families Delphinidae, Platanistidae, Iniidae, and Pontoporiidae, and the extinct Lipotidae. There are 40 extant species named as dolphins.”

Elk Calf

Elk Calf

Elk babies are called calves and weigh around 31 to 35 lbs. (14 to 16 kg) when they are born. After just 20 minutes, a calf can stand on its own.

According to Wikipedia, “The elk or wapiti (Cervus canadensis) is one of the largest species within the deer family, Cervidae, and one of the largest terrestrial mammals in North America and Northeast Asia.”
