Pink Marble Moon

Pink Marble Moon – Photography by Mary Mikawoz – Click on image or link to see the bigger picture.

I took this photograph of the moon in February 2022 in Mexico. I tried out some filters on my camera and this was the result – a pink marble moon. I like what it looks like with its hue of pinks and purples. It is vibrant and rich.

With my art, I am often in a zen-type of mood and with my photography, I feel as if I am inspired by God or the Universe to capture these moments in time.

Alphabet Song of Positivity

Alphabet Song of Positivity – Photography & Poetry by Mary Mikawoz

I wrote these words to this poem or song of positivity a very long time ago – definitely over a decade ago, circa 2007. They are meaningful and are ones that I hope impacts many people in a positive way. As we enter the New Year tonight and transition into a very New Year of 2022, I hope and pray that everyone takes the initiative to put some or all actions into positive intentions and goals for themselves. I think we could bring the best parts of yesteryear and leave that which no longer serves us behind and reach for a new and brighter future and presence.

I took this photograph of the moon as it was waning back in May 2021 and we are like the lunar cycles, always changing with the seasons of the year.

Here is the poem.

Alphabet Song of Positivity

Pink Supermoon

Pink Supermoon – Photography by Mary Mikawoz

Pink Supermoon

This is a photograph I took looking out through the trees at night time at the moon. It was actually over Lake Winnipeg but you can’t see the water in this picture. I have made a rouge effect to make the moon more mysterious and in keeping with the fact that it was taken during the spring when the “Pink Supermoon” was in effect.

According to the Earthsky Website, “In 2020, this April full moon also presents the closest (and thereby largest) supermoon of the year. This full moon more closely coincides with lunar perigee – the moon’s closest point to Earth in its monthly obit – than does any other full moon in the year 2020.”

Lunar Moon

I had a great time taking photos of this moon.  Being present at night time, the skies are black except for the lunar moon which is full in breadth and appearance.  There is a beige tinge to the revolving rock around the Earth.

Did you know that the Farmer’s Almanac has different names for the moon depending upon which month occurs?  They are as follows;

January: “Wolf Moon” also “Old Moon”

February: “Snow Moon”, also “Hunger Moon”

March: “Worm Moon”, “Crow Moon”, “Sap Moon”, “Lenten Moon”

April: “Seed Moon”, “Pink Moon”, “Sprouting Grass Moon”, “Egg Moon” “Fish Moon”

May: “Milk Moon”, “Flower Moon”, “Corn Planting Moon”

June: “Mead Moon”, “Strawberry Moon,” “”Rose Moon”, “Thunder Moon”

July: “Hay Moon”, “Buck Moon”, “Thunder Moon”

August: “Corn Moon”, “Sturgeon Moon”, “Red Moon”, “Green Corn Moon”, “Grain Moon”

September: “Harvest Moon”, “Full Corn Moon”,

October: “Hunter’s Moon”, “Blood Moon”/”Sanguine Moon”

November: “Beaver Moon”, “Frosty Moon”

December: “Oak Moon”, “Cold Moon”, “Long Nights Moon”

Moon through Palm Trees

This photographic shot was taken in the evening while we enjoyed a Luau on Oahu, Hawaii.  The moon is almost hidden by the palm trees even though it is fully in the sky.  Who doesn’t like a full moon?  There is something spectacular in seeing the whole moon light up the night sky.  One of the most amazing things for me is the way the lunar appearance affects entire oceans with ensuring the pull and withdrawal of the waters surf.
