Winnipeg Floodway

Winnipeg Floodway

On a plane trip back to the Winnipeg Airport we flew over the Winnipeg Floodway. Although it seems like it is a river it is just way too darn straight to be one. It is also known as the Red River Floodway and Duff’s Ditch after Premier Duff Roblin after his government implemented it after the disastrous 1950 flood. It has saved countless floods and money in this plains area.

According to Wikipedia, “It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2000, as the floodway is an outstanding engineering achievement both in terms of function and impact.”

Keen Sense

Keen Sense

This beautiful and incredible mammal is reposing and relaxing on the green grass along some boulders. It was taken at the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

According to the Internet,”Polar bears have a keen sense of smell, which they use to find prey. A polar bear can sniff out a seal on the ice 20 miles (32 kilometers) away, and can smell a seal’s breathing hole in the ice more than half a mile away, according to the National Zoo.”

Fiery Orange Ball

Fiery Orange Ball

This is the setting sun of an orange ball in the sky affecting the clouds around it. It was incredibly beautiful over the North Pacific Ocean near Waikiki, Oahu. Mind you, it was very quick. We were on a boat cruise and the sun disappeared very quickly so I had to be quick with my camera photos.

Are You There?

Mikawoz Are You There

Are You There?

Are you there? I can sense you but are you really there? You have your back to me and I don’t see you.

These two ostriches are busy ignoring each other while eating. It is kind of like modern society where entire families or groups of people are ignoring each other at a meal while being on their cell phones. They are present but are they really “present?”

According to Wikipedia, “The golden eagle is one of the best-known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the most widely distributed species of eagle. Like all eagles, it belongs to the family Accipitridae. These birds are dark brown, with lighter golden-brown plumage on their napes.”

Wrinkles in Time

Wrinkles In Time

The water in the Bahama Islands has created these “Wrinkles in Time.” I took a number of photographs of these sand ridges. It is as if they are individual finger prints in the memory of time and sand. It was hard to find places were people had not stood and ruined the individual prints. I like the texture and flow. It is like musical rhythm.

New Build

This is an actual sunset in Tempe, Arizona, USA. There is a modern-style bridge in front of a crane for a new build. It is at the Tempe Town Lake. You can actually see two men in the upper-right hand working up high in the sky.

These architectural structures are above the pedestrian walkway on Stephen Avenue in Calgary.

According to a Downtown Calgary website, “Stephen Avenue Walk is a beautiful outdoor pedestrian walkway in the heart of downtown Calgary from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, 7 days per week. It’s steeped in heritage, and lined with fabulous restaurants and retail shops.”

This is a beautiful skyline with incredible clouds painted across the hemisphere. There is the desert foliage in the foreground and also a lone cactus with a white, light orb on it.

Three Of Us

These three beautiful pink roses represent the three of us in our immediate family. I love the dew that has formed on these flowers while late in the autumn in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
