Chimpanzee – Photography by Mary Mikawoz

I took this photograph of this chimpanzee sauntering along in nature and captured him framed with beautiful pink flowers around him. It was taken at the Honolulu Zoo in Waikiki, Hawaii. 

According to the Honolulu Zoo Website, an interesting fact is that “Chimpanzees and bonobos are equally humanity’s closest living relatives. As such, they are among the largest-brained, and most intelligent of primates.” 

Also, “The Common chimpanzee occupies a broad range compared to the bonobo and can be found in 21 African countries. They are found north of the River Congo in humid closed-canopy forests, montane forest (up to 6,500 ft.), seasonally dry forests and savanna-woodlands.”
