The original base of this abstract drawing is coloured pencils. I was listening to a guided visualization by Colette Baron-Reid. I had visions of an ancient tree with a textured being and also a very rich, red root system. I have added more colour to the background.

I basically love to create with ink and pen. I had a very good flow going when I was doing this drawing. I added a multitude of colours to the drawing and a gradient background. Hope it makes you happy.

Winnipeg Wheat – Drawing & Digital Art by Mary Mikawoz
Winnipeg Wheat
The original base drawing is of ink. It is an abstract representation of wheat. I have also used the City of Winnipeg colours of Blue and Gold. It is also the colours of the Canadian Football League team – Winnipeg Blue Bombers and also the regiment of Winnie the Bear from the Fort Garry Horse Regiment which also has the Blue and Gold colours.
Winnipeg does not have wheat as it is a large city but the surrounding area is surrounded with wheat fields and other crops like canola and flax.

I drew this drawing with various coloured pens and inks. I was feeling quite happy and joyous. When I added the colour to it, I was likewise feeling content and blessed so that is the reason for the flower and the beautiful colours.

This is an ink drawing I have created that is dedicated to first responders and front-line workers. It is also a reminder to all of us to wear “The Mask” to keep us safe for now as we deal with this pandemic.
According to Wikipedia, “A pandemic is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a substantial number of people.”
We will get through this! We will have success and overcome this situation. To all the people of the nations of the world, we need to believe in ourselves as a species who survives and flourishes.

Fortune – Ink Drawing and Pencil Crayons by Mary Mikawoz
Fortune
This is a drawing with pen and coloured pencils. Then, I have added a digital backdrop to it. I love the vibrancy of the colours of red, yellow, green, blue and black.
According to NativeHome.org, “In Native American culture it is believed that all things possess an inherent virtue, power, and wisdom. The feather, for example, is a powerful symbol that signifies honor and a connection between the owner, the Creator, and the bird from which the feather came. It symbolizes trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, and freedom. It is an object that is deeply revered and a sign of high honor.”
To me, feathers are a symbol from the angels watching over us. It is a way they connect us to the Divine and remind us that we are on the right path. In this case, these in my mind, are symbols of fortuitous times and good fortune because of the vibrancy of colour.

I was listening to Justin Timberlake’s song “Filthy.” I was inspired to draw at the same time. I feel as if the purple ink drawing on my part is a representation of neurons firing in both the heart centre and the brain. It is as if the rhythm and flow are coming from the vibration of the music to my hand drawing to the flow of music and the beat pulsating.
I have added some gradients to keep with the technological robot or representation of AI that JT has in his video. It is a combination between the pink organic stream of ink and the digital creation of metallic rays of light. It is a combination between nature and man. It is about progress and advancement while keeping our heart centre soul of humanity real and alive.

I took this photograph en route from Winnipeg through Teulon to Arborg, Manitoba, Canada. These towns are found in the Interlake area between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba.
According to Wikipedia, “Hay is grass, legumes, or other herbaceous plants that have been cut and dried to be stored for use as animal fodder, particularly for large grazing animals raised as livestock, such as cattle, horses, goats, and sheep.”
I like the composition of the two bales of hay in relations to each other. I have made the image a combination of purple and gold colours.

This is a photograph I took near Little Deer in Manitoba, Canada. It is showing the contrast between trees that are broken down, separated and decaying. However, it also shows that life anew is happening with regrowth and new life. It is showing the verdant life form. It is like the cycles of life; of death and rebirth. It continues in nature’s pattern and way.

I took this photograph along the shores of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba. As I was walking along the shoreline, I found this beautiful gem. What is interesting about Lake Winnipeg is that it was part of an ancient inland ocean. According to Wikipedia, “Lake Winnipeg was considered to be an inland sea, with important river links to the mountains out west, the Great Lakes to the east, and the Arctic Ocean in the north. The Red River linked ancient northern and southern peoples along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.”
If I am correct, this is an ammonite in rock. According to the British Geological Survey, “Ammonites lived during the periods of Earth history known as the Jurassic and Cretaceous. Together, these represent a time interval of about 140 million years.”
