Canadian Icefield
While driving the Icefields Highway between Banff and Jasper, Alberta, I saw this beautiful icefield and needed to capture the image. The forest in the foreground serves as an interesting point to draw your eye back into the icefield itself. I also like the various shades of blue tones.

That is a beautiful picture Mary. I lived in Banff for many years until I was 13. Have been to the Icefields many times with my husband (now deceased) . It is a great place to visit. The Icefields have really melted over the years. They used to come right up to the cabins, etc. Did you go on the machines that go up to the Icefields and then on to the ice. I don’t know if they can do that anymore or not. It may not be stable enough. I am not sure. Did you travel along the Banff Jasper Highway. It is a beautiful drive.
Have a great New Year. All the best. Darlene

Hi Darlene, Thank you. Yes, special buses go up on the Columbia Icefield but this one is actually another icefield. It has receded a lot since going there in the 1980s.
